Join us at Edgehill United Methodist Church as we celebrate National Coming Out Day, which falls on Sunday this year with a special worship service honoring LGBTQIA+ courage, joy, faith, and stories.

For too many queer people, the church has been a place where they were told to hide parts of themselves—or where coming out meant risking rejection from a faith community they loved. We believe church can be different.

At Edgehill, we believe every person is created in the image of God and worthy of love, dignity, belonging, and celebration. LGBTQIA+ people are not simply “welcome” here—they are an essential part of who we are as a community. Lindsey Dye will preach during this special service, inviting us to reflect on faith, identity, courage, and the sacred work of becoming more fully who God created us to be.

Together, we will celebrate the sacredness of living openly and authentically, acknowledge the courage it can take to come out, remember those for whom coming out is not yet safe or possible, and recommit ourselves to creating a church and a world where everyone can flourish as their whole selves.

Whether you are out and proud, still figuring things out, not ready or able to come out, an LGBTQIA+ ally, or simply looking for a church where you can bring your whole self, there is a place for you here. Come worship, sing, pray, celebrate, and experience a community where you don't have to choose between who you are and a life of faith.

For anyone who wants to participate, we are filming three minute videos about your coming out story in support of The Center for LGBTQ+ UM Heritage. Learn more.
