Borders & Belonging Sermon Series
Every day we see the headlines: families separated at borders, asylum seekers turned away, people risking everything for survival only to be met with suspicion, hostility, or silence. The injustice of immigration weighs heavy on our hearts.
And yet, this struggle is not new. The book of Ruth begins with migration born of famine, grief, and survival. Ruth and Naomi cross borders because they have no other choice. They encounter both exclusion and welcome, risk and courage, despair and surprising hope.
This November, we’ll explore Ruth’s story alongside Borders and Belonging by Pádraig Ó Tuama and Glenn Jordan in our sermon series, discovering how her ancient story speaks directly to our world today.
Ruth’s story reminds us that the borders we build are not blessed by God. As a community, we’ll reflect on how the church can stand with those seeking safety and home, and how God is calling us to practice generosity, courage, and welcome in the face of injustice.
Join us this November as we seek to live out a bigger story of belonging.
