Advent & Christmas at Edgehill

From the Rubble We Wait

Advent with the Poets of Palestine

November 30 - December 21

9:30 AM

From the Rubble, We Wait: Advent with the Poets of Palestine is an Advent sermon and Sunday school series that listens for God’s coming through the voices of Palestinian poets. Their words of longing, resistance, and fragile hope echo the ancient Advent story—a poor family under empire, a child born in occupied land, a people waiting for deliverance. In these poems, we hear Mary’s trembling courage, Joseph’s quiet faith, and the cries of Bethlehem’s children. These voices do not just accompany the Advent story—they help us feel its truth anew. Even from the rubble, God is still being born.

Winter Solstice Kirtan

As the longest night of the year settles around us, we gather to make space for light, stillness, and song. Join us for an evening of kirtan—meditative, call-and-response chanting rooted in the ancient tradition of Bhakti yoga—led by Amy Barnes. No musical experience is needed; just bring an open heart and willingness to breathe, listen, and add your voice if you feel called. Together, we’ll welcome the returning light through shared song, reflection, and sacred presence. Suggested donation $25. Learn more about Kirtan.

Candlelight Christmas Eve Service

December 24

Join us for a contemplative candlelight Christmas Eve service at Edgehill. Together, we will acknowledge the darkness, hold one another in community, and open our hearts to the quiet light that breaks through even the darkest night. Through prayer, music, and the gentle glow of candlelight, we will remember that hope, peace, and love are present—and waiting to be born again in us.
